Colum Bastable, FCA(Irl), LL.D

Chairman, Cushman & Wakefield Ltd.

Colum Bastable has served as a trustee since August 2010. Mr. Bastable has served most of his career with Royal Lepage Ltd and its predecessor companies. He served as Vice President Finance, Chief Financial Officer and in 1993 was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Royal Lepage Ltd. Following the merger of Royal Lepage’s commercial operations in 2005 with New York based Cushman & Wakefield, Mr. Bastable was appointed President & Chief Executive Officer of Cushman & Wakefield Ltd. He became Chairman in 2008.

G. Mark Brown

Global Chief Investment Officer, Brookfield Properties

Mark Brown was appointed Global Chief Investment Officer in July 2012. Previously, he was Head of Global Strategic Initiatives and Finance. Mark rejoined Brookfield Office Properties as Senior Vice President, Strategic Initiatives & Finance in 2005 after two years at Brookfield Asset Management where he was a key contributor to that company's asset management initiatives in the U.S. Mark was promoted to Head of Global Strategic Initiatives and Finance in 2012. In this role he is responsible for managing Brookfield Office Properties' debt profile and capital partner alliances and works on a number of strategic initiatives, including investment funds. At Brookfield Office Properties from 2000-2003, Mark managed the finance function for U.S. commercial operations and contributed to the company's corporate financial strategies. Prior experience includes nine years with Salomon Smith Barney and Citicorp Real Estate, Inc. Mark holds a Masters of Business Administration from York University and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Laurentian University.

Thomas F. Farley


Tom Farley has served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees since 2011. He retired as President and Chief Operating Officer of Brookfield Office Properties in 2014. He had been Chief Executive Officer of Brookfield Canada Office Properties and its predecessor company, BPO Properties, since 2004. Affiliated with the company since 1993, Mr. Farley has held positions in various senior management roles, most recently as Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Farley has been involved with several major property acquisitions including Bankers Hall, Petro Canada Centre and Fifth Avenue Place in Calgary. Tom holds a CRF designation from the Real Estate Institute of Canada and a degree from the University of Victoria.

Roderick D. Fraser, Ph.D., O.C.

President Emeritus, University of Alberta

Roderick D. Fraser has served as a trustee since August 2010. Mr. Fraser was President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Alberta 1995-2005; held various positions at Queen’s University in Kingston including Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Science and Vice-Principal (Resources); is an Officer of the Order of Canada. Mr. Fraser was awarded Order of the Rising Sun, Japan, in 2006.

Paul D. McFarlane

Corporate Director

Paul McFarlane has served as a trustee since August 2010. Mr. McFarlane retired from CIBC in 2002 after more than 40 years of service in numerous branches, regional and head office positions. He served as Senior Vice President, Special Loans Head Office, Risk Management Division from 1994 until retirement.

Susan L. Riddell Rose

President and Chief Executive Officer, Perpetual Energy Inc.

Ms. Riddell Rose is President and Chief Executive Officer of Perpetual Energy Inc.
Ms. Riddell Rose graduated from Queen's University with a Bachelor of Science in Geological Engineering (1986) and has over 25 years of experience in the Canadian oil and natural gas industry. She began her career as a geological engineer with Shell Canada. From 1990 until 2002, Sue was employed by Paramount Resources Ltd. in various capacities, culminating in the position of Corporate Operating Officer. She has been a director of Paramount Resources Ltd. since 2000. Sue is also a director of Newalta Inc. and a member of the Board of Trustees of Brookfield Canada Office Properties. She is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta, the Canadian Society of Petroleum Geologists, the American Association of Petroleum Geologists and is a Governor of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers.
Ms. Riddell Rose is actively involved with a number of not-for-profit organizations including; United Way of Calgary, the Patrons Council for UNICEF Canada, Fulbright Canada and Queen’s University.

Jan Sucharda

President and Chief Executive Officer, Brookfield Canada Office Properties

Jan Sucharda has served as a trustee since June 2011. He was named President and Chief Executive Officer of Brookfield Canada Office Properties in 2011; prior to that position he was President and Chief Operating Officer. Prior to these positions, he was Senior Vice President, Investments – responsible for overseeing acquisition and disposition initiatives and arranging various forms of financing. Prior to that, Jan was Senior Vice President, Asset Management, with O&Y Properties and O&Y REIT. In addition, Jan has held positions in underwriting, restructuring and asset management with a major financial institution and project management with a Toronto-based construction management company. Jan has an engineering degree from Queen’s University and an MBA from York University.
